Berthed in Perth
Eric and Cushla have arrived back in Perth, very tired and in Eric's case a little confused. The prognosis is good, and we will know more when the GP is finished looking at him tomorrow. In Wickford the rain continues to tumble, and the famous Bank Holiday curse holds up, with thousands washed out of their tents all around the country.
Speaking of tents, the boys dusted off their tent on the weekend and spent a night in the backyard in preparation for the European adventure due in July/August. I have been on the net most of the day sorting out accommodation, we seem to be aiming for two nights camping (e.g. here) and then a night or two of B&B or similar (e.g. here). So far I have organised about a week's worth of holiday, seeing us rambling across France and down to Grenoble before crossing into Italy. Most places have accepted a deposit and so it seems like the trip might really be happening after all of the planning. There is no rhyme or reason about the places we are choosing, it is akin to throwing a dart at a map and seeing where it lands - very haphazard I'm sure, but it's the extemporaneous quality of our journeys so far that has been most alluring.
The Mondeo is in for a service today, partly in preparation for the journey outlined above. We miss you Harvey, do you want a trip to the UK?! They want £400 for the service - oh well, back to work soon to pay for the damage.
