Kym wraps the week

Dad has had the full treatment of the British government medical system, the NHS, and is not very impressed! He has to date been in 3 different wards, but looks set to stay in the Pasteur ward at the Basildon District Hospital. Dad had a CT scan on Thursday. We had a meeting with his ward doctor yesterday and have been informed that he had a stroke with a large area affected by the clot. His recovery is excellent. He is responding well to physio and adjusted medication. Mum and I will be meeting with the medical consultant on Monday when we hope to find out his long and short term prognosis and vital details such as a safe travel date to get Dad back to Australia. Although Mum and Dad will only have completed 1 out of 3 of the planned events (they saw family in Leeds, but not in Wiltshire, and of course they will not be meeting their tour to Prague tomorrow), Mum at least has experienced a more intense family visit than originally planned. Rest assured that we are doing our best in keeping the mother figure upright and functional! Thank you all for your best wishes, Kym x x

Hi Rocio

Thanks for your best wishes. Yes we did receive your CD and your trip looked marvellous. Today is Mum's birthday and the start of the last week for me at the University of Greenwich.....neither of us are in the circumstances we thought we would be in.....no matter how much planning you do, life has a knack of getting in the way! Today we see Dad's medical consultant so we are hoping to receive some valuable information. Cheers Kym
