Blog turns one

Welcome to the celebration of the blog turning one year old (20/06/06). And happy birthday to Mrs E Peck tomorrow! (or today, if you are in Oz - mmm, now I'm confused, better consult the web). 12 months ago I thought it might be a good idea to jot some thoughts down as we made the transition to England. It was supposed to be a diary for future reference, but I had no idea that so many people (including us) would use it as a meeting place to catch up. Very 21st century!
The internet has been great - particularly for travel. At the moment I'm doing serious surfing looking for deals across France and Italy. So far it has been pretty productive, and it looks like we might have a very interesting summer - will post more as details come to hand.
Because we have been a bit housebound of late, we have decided to go "up north" this weekend to Nottingham. I hope to see qualifying of MotoGP at Donington Park, while Kym and the boys are keen to see Robin and some Merry Men. So, up early tomorrow morning, a hearty English breakfast...and away!
On the family news front, Jackson performed well enough at the local sports day to be selected for districts sport representation. He will be representing his school next Thursday 28th at Gloucester Park ("Get him a harness!", quips dad). He has also been selected for a citizenship course next Tuesday, also in Basildon. Mitchell is out with his mate Reeve tonight, and he heads off to France for a day trip (!!) in a couple of weeks.
The picture today shows Kym enjoying her favourite local tipple, sloe gin! Enjoy your weekend all...
