Another mad Peck weekend dash, this time up north. Around the M25 and up the M1 for the first time, we made it to Donington Park after about 3 hours. Kym and the kids dropped me off and while they explored the caves and the Galleries of Justice in Nottingham, I walked around Donington Park, watching the 125, 250 and MotoGP qualifying sessions. £27 entry, £20 for merchandise and priceless for the experience of seeing these guys wind up and blast past at 290kph. Very LOUD!
Dinner at a local Indian restaurant, then off to bed at Lawson Lodge. Today we went to visit the Brewhouse Yard Museum, more caves, Nottingham Castle and as you see in the pic above, the oldest inn in England. Then a blast out to Edwinstowe to see the Major Oak in the centre of Sherwood Forest, the meeting point of Robin Hood and his band before they set out to rob some locals.
We had a grueling 6 hour drive back as there was a major crash on the M1, which ground to a halt, and of course it bucketed down the whole way! Never mind, it was a great weekend, now we all need a rest at work and school - fat chance!
