Mistletoe and Megatoe

Two days of school left for me and four and a half for the boys. Then, on the 23rd, we fly out to Munich. I have been in touch with my mate Karl and all is set for a week down by the Austrian - Lichtenstein - Swiss - German border over Christmas. We have some shopping to do to bolster our cold climate gear, because compared to Scheidegg, Wickford is summery!

This morning I had to defrost the car as it was minus four degrees and still dark at half-past seven. For those fond of such matters, sunrise was at 07:55 (GMT) and sunset at 15:51 (GMT), so I had to defrost the car again when I left school (zero degrees), and drive home in the dark at 5pm. Crazy!

The boys had their regular guitar lesson today at six, but we are taking a winter break over the festive season while Dan the guitar man enjoys a break.
You can see in the pic the toe is all bandaged up; it is OK but clearly not happy with recent events. Who'd have thought such a little matter could have such a large impact on one's life!

The run of interesting times continued on Saturday when I dealt a glancing blow to a parked car in our driveway. The Mondeo was unhurt, but the recipient Ford Escort sadly flew apart at the seams! Never have I seen so many cheap split plastic bits strewn over the place. The owner, a painter, was less than impressed, and jumped up and down a bit and swore a lot. Funny mob! Insurance will cure his car, but I'm afraid his temperament and mental health are beyond salvation.

You may find a slowing in postings in the next few weeks. In fact there will be a complete cessation soon. If the Christmas cards do not arrive in time, have yourselves a very merry Christmas, and we will catch you in the New Year.
